Beaver River Falls

Beaver River Falls

Beaver Bay, MN

Stand at the top of a raging rush of water just before it plummets over the falls visible from Hwy 61. This neck of the Bever River runs next to the superior hiking trail, just before it cuts off the river and back up into the woods. To experience the power of this river, park at the Superior Hiking Trail pull off on the right, at the top of Lax Lake Road (About 3500 ft from why 61). The hike down to the river is not so beautiful, but once you cross the bridge and take the trail back toward the lake things change and you suddenly feel like you are miles from anything. Wold and Owls lurk in the area. Watch your children once you get in the area. The water is fast and dangerous.

NOTE: There is a Superior Hiking Trail campsite at this top point.

Optional View

From Highway 61 bridge you’ll get a view of this mammoth stack of four crushing drops that run over a course of about 350 feet.

Worth the stop.
