McQuade Small Craft Harbor

McQuade Small Craft Harbor

Congdon Blvd Duluth, MN 55804

McQuade Access is a 3+ acre harbor where small craft can seek protection from storms. It has 4 protected ramps for safe boat launching and retrieval, tie-up docks, a park-like setting with walkways along the harbor, walkways and fishing structures on top of the breakwater, a pedestrian underpass beneath Scenic Highway 61, public restrooms, parking and public green space.

Photo Note

It was an interesting phenomena the day this photo was taken. The rains in the hills had run down the rivers along the coast and turned sections of the clear Lake Superior to a rich rust color near the shore.

Fishing

In the late winter and early spring, Kamloops and Coho can be caught from the docks and shore inside the harbor. Cast a vibrax or spoon. ALso, try a slinky weight and a floating jig head with a worm or roe sack. Local fisherman are usually very friendly and some are even willing to show you their black or dark green jigs that they make and can be very successful.
