The State of Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Corps of Engineers completed construction of the first harbor of refuge/marina on the North Shore of Lake Superior. The Marina opened in August of 1999. The marina is owned by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and is managed by the City of Silver Bay.

The facility is located on the scenic North Shore of Lake Superior approximately 55 miles northeast of Duluth, Minnesota on U.S. Highway 61. GPS Coordinates are: Two blocks out- 47.16.00 North by 91.16.00 West, Mouth of harbor is- 47.16.08 North by 91.16.39 West. We are just northeast of East Beaver Bay.

Clean water and quick access to Lake Superior is why boaters of all types prefer Silver Bay Marina. Boats up to 100′ can be accommodated on a daily or seasonal basis in one of our 110 spacious slips.

The approximate marina season is May 15 to October 15, but dependent upon weather conditions. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday (8 a.m. to 4 p.m. after Labor Day).

  • Boat and trailer dry storage are also available
