Located at the base of Lutsen Mountains, you are just a two minute drive from Lake Superior. The Sawtooth Mountains rise nearby and the Poplar River, an easy walk away, cascades through the valley and down to Lake Superior.
The Lutsen Mountains Ski and Recreation Area has the best terrain for downhill skiers & snowboarders in the Midwest. The ski area offers over 1,000 acres of skiable terrain, 92 runs and 986 feet of vertical. Skiers are just a short walk from the base of the Mountain. In the summer, ride the Mountain Tram to the top of Moose Mountain for a fabulous view. The Alpine Slide offers visitors the chance to take an exciting ride down from the top of Eagle Mountain.
The Mountain Inn provides a great base from which to explore the many activities Cook County has to offer. Hike along one of the nearby rivers where waterfalls cascade or up to a spectacular overlook; sit on Lake Superior’s shore or explore the quaint nearby community of Grand Marais.
